A harness needs a complete connection system
KOSHA ABC considers anchorage, body support and connectors together. A suitable harness alone does not establish system suitability.
Understand the situation
A harness alone is not a complete fall-protection system. Anchorage, body support and connecting equipment must be compatible and suitable for the work position.
Safety Kim’s reference design uses a full-body harness with a dorsal D-ring.

Review the task
Trace the path from that ring through the connector to the approved anchorage. Review locking, interference, edges and required clearance.
An unidentified ring or convenient guardrail is not automatically an anchorage.
Check your workplace
- Is the anchorage designated?
- Are compatible connectors fully locked?
- Are clearance and rescue addressed?
Apply the lesson
Selection depends on the system, not reach alone. Clearance is not simply lanyard length; use the manufacturer’s method, including absorber deployment, body position and obstructions as applicable.
Avoid a common mistake
Check condition and markings before use. Hold impact-loaded equipment out of service for the prescribed disposition.
The linked EQ-002 guide covers illustrated donning, care and field connection principles.
Putting it into practice
Check harness fit, connectors and anchorage together. Record the equipment model and anchorage in the work plan.
See the harness guide for illustrated fitting and care.
Technical insight
Assess the connected fall-protection system
The harness is only one part of the system. Anchorage, connectors, lanyard compatibility and clearance can make an otherwise serviceable set unsuitable for a location.
Map the connection geometry and space above obstacles. Compare available clearance with the actual equipment instructions and plan rescue after an arrested fall.
Determine actual anchorage and equipment compatibility through engineering review, manuals and site procedures.
